Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

There’s nothing quite like a warm chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven. These classic chocolate chip cookies have golden, lightly crisp edges, soft and chewy centers, and plenty of chocolate chips in every bite.

Whether you’re baking a batch for your family, filling the cookie jar, or just craving something sweet with a cold glass of milk, this is the kind of simple homemade cookie recipe you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt (omit if using salted butter)

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1¼ cups lightly packed light brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature (you can let sit in warm bowl of water for a few minutes before)

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed.

  4. Add the vanilla and eggs and beat until combined, scraping down the bowl as needed.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix just until combined.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.

  7. Using a large cookie scoop, portion the dough into approximately 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets- you can slightly flatten them if you want a thinner cookie.

  8. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
